The German homeschooling family that has been persecuted relentlessly in
their own country has found a new home in the U.S. We welcome Uwe and
Hannelore Romeike and their family to our free society.
After years of efforts to live within the German political system, the
Romeike's with the help of HSLDA have won political asylum in the U.S.

America has always been a refuge for people being denied their human
rights, but it is surprising the lengths to which Europe has gone to
suppress parental rights. It's as though the lessons of the Nazi era
have already been forgotten - or maybe were never learned.
The totalitarianism mind-set that marked the axis powers of World War II
seems to have never loosened its grip on Germany. Ironically, the
German government justifies its actions by claiming that homeschoolers
constitute a "parallel society" that threatens the freedom and security
of the citizenry. Now let me see, we deny basic parental rights in
order to secure freedom - sounds logical to me!
The Romeike's are definitely welcome in our parallel society - we wish
them well!
